MA (June 5, 2002) --- Cyagra, Inc. announces the launching of its cloned pig
business. Cyagra, Inc., a subsidiary of Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. is
headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Cyagra President and CEO, Dr.
Michael West said “Our goal is to provide those in the swine business a profitable
way to preserve and ensure they can repeat their best genetics just like we have
done with cattle cloning.” Since producing the world's first cloned transgenic
calves in 1998, Cyagra has cloned nearly 100 of the very best beef and dairy cattle.
Dr.
West attributes Cyagra’s success to its superior scientific staff and commitment
to research and development. Cyagra’s portfolio holds more than 160 U.S. and international
patents including the exclusive worldwide license for the most extensive mammalian
cloning patent ever issued.

Alley Cat is one of Cyagra’s first cloning candidates.
Owned by Mr. Rory Duelm, Duelm Farms, New Braunfels, Texas, Alley Cat (see photo
on right) is one of the club swine industry’s top sires. He is unique in having
sired Hampshire, Berkshire, Yorkshire and cross-breed grand champions and reserve
grand champions. Cyagra recently established Alley Cat’s cell line. |

As
Director of Research and Production, Dr. Raymond Page is in charge of Cyagra’s
pig cloning program. He was a member of the scientific team that cloned
the world’s first pigs in March 2000. The first cloned pigs, Milli, Crista,
Alexa, Carrel, and Dotcom, are pictured on the left. Dr. Page said “Cyagra’s
primary goal is to use this exciting new biotechnology to provide swine producers
with genetic duplicates of their superior
pigs and thereby achieve the ultimate of customer satisfaction.” |
